Sacramental Programmes for Children

At Our Lady of Fatima Parish Kingsgrove children are prepared for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation through family-centred, parish-based sacramental programmes.

This means that parents are involved in preparing their children for the sacraments through programmes implemented and supported by the parish.

Preparation includes formation evenings for parents only and small group meetings at which both parents and children participate.

The usual age for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is when the child reaches Year 3 and for Confirmation, Year 6. Children of other ages will be considered on consultation with the Sacramental Coordinator.

ENROLMENT IN SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMMES 

Enrolment in First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation Programmes for 2016 are being accepted NOW.

First Reconciliation (Confession) and First Eucharist (Holy Communion)

If your child has been baptised in the catholic church and is in Year 3 in 2016 he/she may be eligible to join the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Programmes next year. Preparation for First Reconciliation (Confession) takes place in Term One and First Eucharist in Term Two.

Dates for First Reconciliation 2016

Sunday 7 February: Information Session (4pm) followed by Commitment Mass (5pm)

Small group meetings commence week beginning 8 February and continue for 4 weeks.

Wednesday 9 March: Sacrament of First Reconciliation 7pm

Dates for First Eucharist 2016

Sunday 1 May: Information session (4pm) followed by Commitment Mass (5pm)

Small group meetings commence week beginning 2 May

Wednesday 1 June: Practice & Sacrament of Reconciliation for First Eucharist Families 6.30pm

Sunday 5 June: First Communion Mass 10:00am

Wednesday 8 June: Practice & Sacrament of Reconciliation for First Eucharist Families 6.30pm

Sunday 12 June: First Communion Mass 10am

Confirmation

If your child has been baptised in the Roman Catholic Church, has received the sacraments of both Reconciliation and Eucharist and is in Year 6 in 2016, he/she may be eligible to join the Confirmation Programme this year. Preparation for Confirmation takes place in Term Three. Older children may also apply. Please note that children baptised in eastern rite catholic and orthodox churches have already received the sacrament of Confirmation at Baptism and the sacrament cannot be repeated.

Dates for Confirmation 2016 (TENTATIVE)

Sunday 7 August: Information Session (4pm) followed by Commitment Mass (5pm)

Preparation in small group sessions commence the week beginning 8 August and continue over 4 weeks

Wednesday prior to Confirmation: Practice (5pm) followed by Sacrament of Reconciliation (7.30pm)

TENTATIVE DATES – awaiting confirmation by the Archdiocese. Confirmation will be one of the following dates:

Sunday 28 August 3pm : Proposed date for the sacrament of Confirmation

 Sunday 4 September 3pm : Proposed date for the sacrament of Confirmation

Sunday 11 September 3pm : Proposed date for the sacrament of Confirmation

Where do I obtain an enrolment form?

Enrolment forms are available in the foyer of OLF Church, Parish Office or may be downloaded from this website.

How do I submit my enrolment form?

Your completed enrolment form must be accompanied by a copy of the child’s baptismal certificate. It may be returned via:
